Benefit Your Brother

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Whoso among you is able to benefit his brother, must do it.” [Sahih Muslim]

You are going to the hardware store. Your brother in Islam needs something from there but has not been able to go. You have enough time to pick up what he needs while you’re there. You should ask him about it and pick it up for him. This hadith makes it incumbent on you to benefit your brother since you are easily able to do so.

A sister in Islam asked you for a recipe. You were able to help her improve her cooking and thereby benefit her and her family. According to this hadith it becomes incumbent upon you to share that recipe.

Do for others as you would like others to do for you and Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) will bless you.
