Zakaat Evaders Branded with Fire

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “There is no one who owns gold or silver and does not pay what is due on them, but on the Day of Resurrection plates of Fire will be served to him. They will be heated in the Fire of Hell, then his sides, forehead and back will be branded with them. Every time they cool down, they will be heated again and put back on him, for a day which will be as long as fifty thousand years, until Judgement is passed among mankind, and he will be shown his destiny, either Paradise or Hell.” [Muslim]

Some believers commit sins which will cause them to face horrors or difficulties on the Day of Judgement. Those who do not pay the full Zakah that is due from them, come in this category.

Be careful in calculating the Zakah that is due on your wealth and property. Err on the side of safety. If it is extra, it will count as Sadaqah which will come handy on the Day of Judgement.
