Hadith Explanation

Allah is Present with the Sick

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Allah will say on the Day of Resurrection, ‘O son of Adam, I fell sick and you did not visit Me.’ He will say, ‘O Lord, how could I visit You when You are the Lord of the Worlds?’ Allah will say, ‘Did you not know that My slave So and so was sick, and you did not visit him? Do you not know that if you had visited him, you would have found Me with him?’

“‘O son of Adam, I asked you for food and you did not feed Me.’ He will say, ‘O Lord, how could I feed You when You are the Lord of the Worlds?’ Allah will say, ‘Did you not know that My slave So and so asked you for food, and you did not feed him? Did you not know that if you had fed him, you would have found that with Me?’

“‘O son of Adam, I asked you to give Me to drink, and you did not give Me to drink.’ He will say, ‘O Lord, how could I have given you to drink when You are the Lord of the Worlds?’ Allah will say, ‘Did you not know that My slave So and so asked you to give him to drink, and you did not give him to drink? If you had given him to drink, you would have found that with Me.’” [Saheeh Muslim]

Allow yourself to visit the sick, feed those who ask you for food, and give drink to those asking you for a drink. When you meet Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) you will find all these deeds saved with Him.
