Anger Like Aloe

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Anger spoils and destroys Emaan just as aloe spoils honey.” [Mishkaat]

Aloe is extremely bitter. Even if someone is pulverizing it at a distance it causes the bitterness to settle in one’s throat. If even a little aloe is mixed with a large quantity of honey, it will become bitter.

Similarly, anger has the effect of making bitter the sweetness of Emaan. In short, anger deprives one of the sweetness of Allah’s love and the sweet feeling that comes from worshipping Allah, because anger spoils the perfection and Noor within.
