As-Salaam

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “As-Salaam is one of the attributes of Allah. It has been sent to the world for the benefit of people. Hence, make the use of As-Salaam common among yourselves.” [Al-Adab-ul-Mufrad]

When you greet your Muslim brother or sister with the words “As-Salaam-o-Alaikum” you infact invoke the blessings of Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) to protect him or her: you invoke the blessings of Him Who is the fountain of all good and Whose Being is synonymous with peace and salvation. As-Salaam is one of the attributes of Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) and a person can attain peace and forgiveness only with the will of Allah (subhana wa ta’ala).
