Hadith Explanation
Be Cautious to Avoid Animosity
Allah's Messenger (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Indeed Satan has despaired that those who pray should worship (him) in the Arabian peninsular, however (he seeks) to provoke animosity between them.” [Sahih Muslim]
We should guard our words carefully lest we say something casually while it causes a fire to blaze in the heart of a Muslim brother or sister. This would make Shaytaan very happy. We would be deceived indeed if we avoided shirk, and considered ourselves to be on the right path, while we destroyed our good deeds in our mutual rivalries and resulting animosities.
The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) told us that a Muslim is one from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe.
Do Muslims feel that their honour is safe with you?
Is your tongue a weapon against Allah’s friends?
