Hadith Explanation

Control Your Anger

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Whoever controls his anger when he is able to act upon it, Allah will call him before all of creation on the Day of Resurrection, and will let him choose whichever of Al-Hoor al-Iyn he wants.” [Mishkaat al-Masaabeeh]

Controlling anger is one of the foremost characteristics of the pious. Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) says: “And march forth in the way (which leads) to forgiveness from your Lord, and for Paradise as wide as the heavens and the earth, prepared for Al-Muttaqoon (the pious). Those who spend (in Allah’s Cause) in prosperity and in adversity, who repress anger, and who pardon men; verily, Allah loves Al-Muhsinoon (the good-doers).” [Quran: Surah Al-e-Imran, Ayat 133-134]

We get and forget, while we should give and forgive.

The path to Paradise is steep. But the reward with Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) is worth more than the satisfaction you receive from venting and fanning your anger.

Suppress your anger, think of how many times a day you must be angering Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) while He forbears. Forgive others so Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) may forgive you on the Day of Judgement and include you with the Muttaqoon and Muhsinoon.
