Hadith Explanation

Creatures Rights Restored on Day of Judgement

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “All creatures’ rights will be restored to them on the Day of Resurrection, to such an extent that the hornless sheep will settle its scores with the horned sheep.” [Muslim]

On the Day of Resurrection, Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) will see to it that scores are settled between the oppressed and their oppressors, so much so that scores are settled even among animals. If two sheep butted heads and one had no horns then he will be given horns on the Day of Judgement with which to get even. This will continue till there are no outstanding wrongs left among creatures.

So feel that you will have to pay and stop wronging others.

Make up for past wrongs if at all possible. Ask the victims of your tongue, hands, feet, heart and intelligence, to forgive you. If they are unaware of what you did (such as your having backbited them) then don’t inform them about it, for this will further hurt them, but make it up to them in whatever way you can. If you attacked their honour previously, now defend their honour and try to restore their image. If you owe them any money or goods, be sure to return it to them. In addition, pray for Allah’s blessings on them and for their and your own forgiveness.

If you ignore the damage you did to anyone’s faith (Eeman), honour, feelings, pocket or body, know that it will not be ignored on the Day of Judgement.
