Donating Recitation to Deceased

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Recite Ya Seen over your dead.” [Abu Dawud]

Surah Ya Seen is the 36th Surah of the Quran. “The scholarly majority hold that reciting the Quran for the deceased is valid and that the reward for it reaches him. If a person recites the Quran and then donates the reward of what he has read to the deceased, the reciter receives the reward for his recital without this diminishing anything from the reward of the deceased.” [Fatawa Shariyya wa Buhuth Islamiyya, quoted in Reliance of the Traveller]
