Each of Us Will Inherit

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “There is no one among you who does not have two positions, one in Jannah and one in Jahannum. The believer will have a house built for him in Jannah, and his house in Jahannum will be demolished.” [Ibn Katheer]

Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) has given two positions to every descendent of Adam: a position in Jannah and a position in Jahannum. Then, by our beliefs and our deeds, we inherit one place and turn down the other. Moreover, the people of Jahannum inherit the additional positions in Jahannum that had been allocated to the people of Jannah, while the people of Jannah, for whom eternal bliss is decreed, inherit the portions of Jannah that had been allocated to the people of Jahannum.

After describing the good deeds that earn Jannah, Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) says: “These are indeed the inheritors, who shall inherit the Firdaws (Jannah). They shall dwell therein forever.” [Quran: Surah Muminoon, Ayat 10-11]
