Hadith Explanation

Every Morsel Sadaqa

Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “You will be rewarded for whatever you spend for Allah’s sake even if it were a morsel which you put in your wife’s mouth.” [Al Jaami Al Saheeh]

What you spend in order to take care of the needs of your family will be considered Sadaqa on your behalf and you will be rewarded for it inshaAllah.

If a man spent all his money providing luxuries to his parents while his children cried from hunger what would you think of him? Keep in mind that a Muslim’s family is very large. Every Muslim on earth is a part of his family. Therefore, if he spends all his money on his immediate family alone and he is left with nothing to give for the basic needs of his extended family he will be questioned about it on the Day of Judgement. He must use his money wisely, and always seek Allah’s pleasure with it. Look at the lives of the Sahabah for practical guidance as they were a generation pleased with Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) and with whom Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) was pleased.
