Extra Clothes for Friday

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “If a man is well-to-do, what will he lose if he keeps two pieces of clothing for Friday, in addition to his work clothes.” [Abu Dawud]

We have been recommended to keep a pair of clothes clean, to be able to attend the Juma prayers in them.

This is in honour of Friday and also to maintain the pleasantness of the gathering of Muslims in Allah’s houses (Masjids).

Here we are being encouraged to keep one extra set of clothes, but we keep wardrobes chock full.

Yet in these overflowing wardrobes is there a single outfit that we could wear to Juma with Muhammad (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam)?
