Forbidden to Hurt Body of Deceased

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Breaking the bone of one who is dead is like breaking it when he is alive.” [Sunan Abu Dawud]

This hadith informs us of the necessity of treating the body of a deceased person with respect, as though he/she were living. If while digging a grave the excavator discovers that someone else is buried there, it is desirable to move to another location. Scholars who hold the view that it is not allowed to take organs from the deceased, use this Hadith among their proofs, arguing that if this is the case with the bones, then it is so with the rest of the body as well.
