Hadith Explanation
Incentive for the Selfish
Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “He who supplicates for his brother behind his back (in his absence), the angel commissioned (for carrying dua to his Lord) says: 'Ameen, and it is for you also.'” [Sahih Muslim]
So the advantage of praying for the eeman, safety, health, prosperity, or any good, for another Muslim, is that we have an angel make the same dua for us. When a person thinks selfishly, they are selfish even in their prayers; why pray for someone instead of for ourselves only, why pray for a Muslim in some remote part of the world? This hadith provides incentive even for a selfish person to make dua for all Muslim brothers and sisters.
